Michael Jaloussis
Managing Principal

Michael has been a lawyer for more than 35 years. He joined McNally’s in 1981 and practices in various areas of the law, including Industrial and Employment Law. He has represented our clients in many important cases involving unfair dismissal, sham contracts, unfair contracts, retrenchments, underpayment of wages, non-payment of superannuation and non-payment of other statutory entitlements.

Michael has broad experience in many other areas of the law and has represented clients and provided advice in matters involving Family Law (including de facto relationships), Coronial Inquests, Commissions of Enquiry, Criminal Law, Defamation, Wills and Deceased Estates, Income Protection and Disability Claims, Superannuation Claims, Discrimination Law and general litigation, including commercial litigation matters.

Over the years, Michael has personally advocated cases in the NSW Industrial Relations Commission, the Chief Industrial Magistrate’s Court, and the NSW local courts, Fair Work Australia, the Fair Work Commission and the former Australian Industrial Relations Commission.

Michael has also appeared in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia, the Federal Court of Australia, the Supreme and District Courts of NSW, the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission, the Anti-Discrimination Board of NSW, the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the NSW Industrial Court.

Michael is a member of the Industrial Relations Society of New South Wales, the Law Society of New South Wales, the Law Society of Western Australia and the Law Council of Australia. He speaks Greek fluently and often represents members of the Greek community.

David Trainor
Principal

David joined W G McNally & Co when it was established in 1977 and was admitted as a legal practitioner a year later. He has 39 years’ experience in representing injured workers and members of the public who suffer injuries in motor vehicle accidents and damages involving public liability and medical or professional negligence.

David was one of the first legal practitioners in Australia to obtain accreditation as a Specialist in Personal Injury Law in 1994. He is now recognised by the Law Society of NSW as an examiner of lawyers seeking accreditation as personal injury specialists.

David has conducted numerous cases involving claims arising from dust diseases, such as asbestosis and mesothelioma. He has particular expertise in relation to Comcare workers compensation and seafarer’s compensation claims.

Richard Brennan
Principal

Richard was a Principal of Jones Staff & Co for 28 years prior to its merger with W G McNally & Co in September 2006. He has practised law for over 39 years, mainly in the personal injury/workers’ compensation field.  He is a member of the Law Society of NSW.

Richard has acted in many of the leading personal injury cases over the years and was a member of the then Compensation Court Rules Committee of the Law Society of New South Wales. The Law Society of New South Wales acknowledged Richard’s expertise in Workers’ Compensation when it appointed him to represent it in discussions with WorkCover, which were aimed at improving the delivery of compensation benefits to injured workers. He has also advised Unions New South Wales of the effect and impact on the rights of injured workers following changes to NSW Workers’ Compensation laws.

Richard has made presentations to various conferences on workers’ compensation and has written articles in various publications on changes to the workers’ compensation system.

Richard adopts a “hands on” approach to his matters and personally attends to all aspects of his matters. He appears on behalf of his clients as their advocate in the Workers’ Compensation Commission.

Nathan Keats
Principal

Nathan has been a lawyer for more than 18 years. He is an Accredited Specialist in Industrial and Employment Law and is a member of Law Society of New South Wales and its Employment Law Committee. Nathan was admitted as a Principal of McNally’s as from 1 July 2015, having worked with us since 1998.

Nathan represents unions and their members in a number of industries, including maritime, sugar, construction, manufacturing, and the Government sector. He conducts litigation in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia.

Nathan is experienced in the full range of employment and industrial law matters. These include discrimination, unfair dismissal, adverse action, contract negotiation, breach of employment contracts, redundancies, disciplinary matters and promotion appeals in the public sector, contractor issues, industrial disputes and enterprise bargaining.

Damien Hill

Damien

Damien is a lawyer who was admitted to practice and joined McNally’s in 2001. He has practiced mainly in the field of personal injury law in New South Wales and on a national basis. He is a member of the Law Society of Western Australia and the Law Society of New South Wales.

Damien is experienced in all aspects of personal injury litigation and appears regularly in various courts and tribunals. He is regarded as an expert in Comcare compensation and Seafarer’s compensation claims.  Damien has also worked on many cases across injury related matters involving industrial, employment, criminal, coronial inquests and other areas of the law.

Bill McNally

William (Bill) McNally is a consultant to the firm. He has practised law for over 50 years, as a barrister and solicitor. He established the firm W G McNally & Co on 1 August 1977. Bill is able to offer our clients rare wisdom and insight gained from a wealth of experience. He is recognised and acknowledged as the country’s most experienced practicing industrial lawyer.

Throughout his career, Bill has trained many leading barristers and solicitors who have sat or now sit on industrial tribunals, federal courts and state courts. He is particularly proud of the fact that he participated in the Federal Equal Pay Case in 1969 and was one of the pioneers of compulsory employee superannuation in Australia in the 1970s.

Bill is actively involved in many of our current industrial and commercial cases, including those in Western Australia. Bill ensures that the quality of the services and representation provided by the firm remain at the highest level by liaising with each of our lawyers in relation to matters under their control and making himself available for advice and guidance, whenever it is needed or requested.

Bill is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales, the Law Society of Western Australia and the Industrial Relations Society of New South Wales.  In recognition of his many years of experience in the field of industrial and employment law, Bill was one of the first legal practitioners in Australia to obtain accreditation in New South Wales as a Specialist in Employment and Industrial Law in 1997.

Mark Turner

Mark is a lawyer with over 40 years’ experience. He is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales and is a Consultant to McNally’s.

Mark was previously the senior Principal in Jones Staff & Co and provided advice to unions and their members in a number of areas in the law.

Mark is experienced in a range of fields, including personal injury law, general litigation, wills and estate planning, commercial law, general property and leasing transactions. He provides the firm with valuable assistance in these areas of the law.

The Hon. Lance Wright QC
Consultant

The Honorable Lance Wright QC is a Senior Consultant to McNally’s and has been since 2008. He has practiced in the field of Industrial and Employment Law for over 43 years. From 1998 to 2008, Lance was the President of the New South Wales Industrial Relations Commission and Court.

Lance commenced working as an Industrial Officer in 1969. He worked for the Public Service Association of NSW and the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers’ Union. After completing his legal studies, he went on to practice as a barrister in 1979 and was appointed a Queens Counsel in 1991.

As a practicing barrister, Lance appeared in cases in State and Federal courts and tribunals, including the New South Wales Court of Appeal, the Federal Court and the High Court of Australia.

Lance brings a wealth of practical experience and knowledge to the practice of law and the advice and assistance he provides to our clients and lawyers.

The Hon. Conrad Staff

The Honourable Conrad Staff is a Senior Consultant to McNally’s and has been since his retirement as a judge with the New South Wales Industrial Relations Commission and Court in 2015.

Conrad was a partner in Jones Staff & Co prior to accepting an appointment as a judge of the Commission, which was a recognition and acknowledgment of his expertise and knowledge of employment and industrial law in New South Wales.

As a solicitor, Conrad practised exclusively in industrial and employment law. He is an Accredited Specialist in that area of the law.

Michael Burns
Senior Associate

Michael has been a lawyer since 1997. He is an Accredited Specialist in Industrial and Employment Law and is a member of the Law Society of NSW.

Michael has worked for a number of labour law firms and trade unions and has built up an enviable knowledge of industrial and employment law in Australia and the operations of trade unions within our industrial relations system.

Michael appears in employment and union-related matters in industrial tribunals across Australia. He has acted in many matters that have been heard in the state Supreme Courts, the Federal Court and the High Court of Australia. Prior to joining McNally’s he was General Counsel for the Transport Workers’ Union of Australia and in that role he was responsible for steering the TWU through the Qantas dispute, the modern award review process, union rules and governance and enterprise bargaining on a national scale.

Michael operates a national practice and assists in McNally’s office in Perth, where he has conduct of some of the major multi-party industrial disputes and litigation affecting our union clients.

Biljana Sambolic
Lawyer

Biljana had previously worked with us as a legal secretary while undertaking her legal studies. She rejoined McNally’s as a lawyer in 2008.

Biljana works in the important areas of Family Law, Wills, Deceased Estates, Income Protection Insurance Claims, Victims’ Compensation, Criminal Law and general civil litigation. She has obtained many excellent results for clients in relation to their Income Protection claims and TPD policies through their superannuation because of her perseverance and diligence. She has also been involved in some notable criminal trials and inquests.

Biljana also assists the lawyers and Principals in Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation matters. She is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales.

Biljana speaks Croatian and Serbian fluently and represents our clients within the Croatian, Serbian and Macedonian communities.

Christina Hatzigeorgiou
Lawyer

Christina attended the University of Wollongong from 2008 to 2011 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2012. Studying some law subjects in that degree aroused her interest in the study of the law, so she decided to undertake a postgraduate law degree.

Christina graduated from the University of Technology Sydney in 2016 as a Juris Doctor. She then obtained her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law in June 2016. On 15 July 2016, she was admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia. She is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales.

Prior to her admission as a lawyer, Christina worked at McNally’s since 2013 as a paralegal. She has an interest in Succession Law, Criminal Law and Employment Law. Since her admission as a solicitor, Christina has undertaken the drafting of wills and has developed significant experience in estate planning.

Dominic Longhurst

Dominic is originally from Orange and attended Charles Sturt University (Bathurst). He graduated with a Bachelor of Social Science (Criminal Justice) in 2011.

Dominic studied law at Macquarie University, where he spent a semester aboard studying at Tilburg University in the Netherlands, and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 2014. He completed the majority of his Practical Legal Training at the Aboriginal Legal Service, Redfern and obtained his Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law in 2015.

Dominic started working at McNally’s on 31 August 2015 as a graduate lawyer. He was admitted as a lawyer of the NSW Supreme Court and of the High Court of Australia on 9 October 2015. He is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales.

Dominic assists the lawyers and Principals of the firm in various areas of the law. He has a keen interest in criminal law, commercial law and torts.

Amber Notley
Conveyancer

Amber started with the firm as a member of our administrative team in 1999. After completing her studies at the Macquarie University in 2003, Amber became a qualified, licensed conveyancer.

Amber is the Administration and Conveyancing Manager at McNally’s. She attends to our clients’ conveyancing matters and assists in handling deceased estate matters.

Gail Crumlin
Conveyancing Clerk

Gail has worked at McNally’s since 2009. She works in our Conveyancing Division and assists Mark Turner and Amber Notley with our conveyancing and leasing matters. She is currently studying to become a qualified conveyancer.
